Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the State Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. Scheduled for demolition in 2013 for expansion of Shephard Park and construction of a boat ramp. This one and a half-story astylistic utilitarian ranger station features a rectangular shaped plan configruation, a concrete foundation, a board and batton exterior, a wood trim, and an asphalt shingled multi-gabled roof. The interior is finished with insulation board, painted walls, concrete flooring in the garage, asphalt tile flooring on the first story, and maple flooring on the second. The garage doors are of the overhead type. Constructed in 1927 and remodeled in 1937, the frame building is presently in poor condition, due to the fact that it needs a new roof and a new floor. (Leakage from the roof and the basement may be caused from the fact that the building is splitting in two). The entire strucutre is to be replaced in the year 2003 and located on a new site, one mile north of its present site. Future disposition or reuse of this building is unknown. The Rhindlander Station Distict Office building (#351) functioned at one time as the district office and sleeping quarters for the rangers, as well as a two-stall garage. Now it serves only as offices for wildlife, law enforcement, and forestry adminstrative purposes. |
