Veteran's Park was constructed out of a land reclaimation project by Milwaukee County in 1957. The park features a lagoon, wide open grassy areas, informal picinic areas, paved pedestrian paths, and commemorative signage. Random deciduous trees are planted throughout the park. Sculptures and a small scattering of rental shops and a comfort station are located near the beach. Veteran's Park is part of the Lake Michigan Parkway North.
