Additional Information: | A 'site file' titled "Barron County Highway Repair Shops Complex" exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. THIS WAS ORIGINALLY AN L-PLAN BUILDING THAT WAS COMPLETED IN 1922 AND IT HOUSED A MACHINE SHOP, A BLACKSMITH SHOP, AND GARAGE SPACE FOR TRUCKS. THE MACHINE SHOP PORTION HAS WALLS MADE OF HOLLOW BUILDING TILES SURFACED IN CONCRETE BUT THE REST OF THE BUILDING HAS REINFORCED CONCRETE WALLS. IN 1938, A 30X60-FOOT CONCRETE BLOCK ADDITION WAS MADE TO THE ORIGINAL BUILDING, WHICH RESULTED IN THE BUILDINGS CURRENT RECTILINEAR PLAN CONFIGURATION. DOE signed 12/5/2011. Demolished between 2011 and 2018. |
