Land for the parkway was not acquired until 1931 and 1935. Implementation of the parkway began in 1932 at the confluence of the Menomonee River and Honey Creek. The work required creek relocation and widening,road grading, and bridge construction. CCC and WPA labor completed the creek work and added retaining walls, dams, landscaping, and roads. The drive is an asphalt pavement with curbing on both sides of the drive.
