NOTES
Additional Information:This small, two story Greek Revival styled house features a rectangular shaped plan configuration, an unspecified stone foundation, a brick and aluminum/vinyl sided exterior, a wood trim and an asphalt shingled gable roof. Although it is altered and in poor condition, the dwelling retains design elements of the Greek Revival style. These elements include the formal symmetry of the front facade and the broken pediments at the gable ends. The residence was owned by Peter Terpstra in 1982.

Historical Statement: This house was built in the late 1840's by Ira Miltimore, one of Janesville's early settlers. (See Bib. Ref. A, B). Miltimore built the city's first dam and bridge in the mid 1840's. (The dam was built in 1844 and the bridge in 1846). Additionally, he operated a stone quarry near Montery Rock and platted several addtions to the Original Plat of Janesville.

Local tradition places the second School for the Blind at this location. Miltimore was a founder and promoter of the school.
