Additional Information: | LARGE 1 STORY BALCONIED SSUNROOM [Date Cnst:(RON LARSON)] 2016- "This house was built by O.J. Elvehjem when he retired from farming and moved to town. This well-built vernacular style house features a large front screened porch and a sun porch on the south side. Iver and Anna Kalnes and family moved here in 1934, eventually buying the house in 1947 from Conrad Elvehjem. It remained in the Kalnes family until 1968. In 2015 the owners are Romel and Natalie Santini." -"Historic McFarland: A Walking Tour" booklet, Third printing, published by the McFarland Historical Society, (March 2016). 2021 - Resurveyed. This two-and-one-half-story front gabled house was built in 1916. It has a rectangular footprint, concrete foundation, vinyl siding, and a front gabled roof. An enclosed shed roof porch spans the full width of the façade. The front entrance is located on the east half of the porch and flanked by three, three-over-one sash windows. Fenestration is regularly spaced three-over-one wood sash windows with metal storm covers. Behind the house to the east is a two-stall detached garage with a Dutch gable roof. 2024: In 1968, Virgil Herman Butt may have puchased the building. |
