Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the State Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. This one and a half-story astylistic utilitarian ranger station features a rectangular shaped plan configuration, a concrete foundation, a rock-faced concrete block exterior, wood trim, and an asphalt shingled multi-gabled roof. Multi-paned bungalow windows are part of the architectural design, as are three gabled dormers, which intersect with the main roof on the facade. Each dormer consists of two, three-over-one craftsman styled windows. Five vehicle bays and an entry bay spans across the front on the first story. The structure is in good condition. The Minong Ranger Station has functioned since its 1936 date of construction as an office, living quarters and storage space of equipment and hand tools. A remodeling of the existing apartment and the addition of two new bedrooms took place from 1968 to 1970. A new vinyl tile floor was added in 1968 as well. A year earlier in 1967, the roof was replaced with new asphalt shingles. The site also includes a stone embankment, a garage and two storage buildings. Another map code for this station is 7/2. |
