Additional Information: | 2024: This Craftsman house on the Zastrow Farmstead is set along the east side of CR E, immediately south of Northside Drive. Its date of construction could not be confirmed in the WHPD or by county assessor records but aerial photographs indicate it has been present since at least 1937.
In the 1899 atlas, this 219.55-acre parcel was owned by Frederick Zastrow and bisected by CR E. He was engaged in “general farming and dairying.” He resided on this section on one of the two homesteads depicted on the parcel; one was 0.13 miles to the west of the present farmstead and the other was 0.28 miles to the SE. A relative, Reinhard Zastrow owned the 89.75-acre parcel in the 1919 atlas. The present farmstead here was not depicted in either atlas. In the 1937 aerial photograph, this farmstead, including the house and at least 2 barns/ag. buildings were evident here.
