2012- This highly intact, previously surveyed free-standing building was historically known as the Brown Brothers Duplex and it was built
in 1890 according to historic Superior city directories and newspapers, and it is a very fine example of a Queen Anne Style duplex
residence. This building has a rectilinear plan, it is two-stories-tall, and its main facade faces east onto John Ave. The building sits on
a tall raised basement story whose foundation walls are made out of random ashlar brownstone blocks, and the walls that rest on this
foundation are clad in brick ornamented with cut stone and they are sheltered by the duplex's complicated gable-and-hip roof, the
slopes of which are clad in asphalt shingles. This roof has four equal sloping sides, it terminates in a large flat deck, and large gableroofed
dormers are centered on both the rear and on the two side elevations.
