Additional Information: | 2012- This previously surveyed, two-story-tall, rectilinear plan commercial building was built in 1911, according to historic City of Superior Assessor's records. This Prairie Style-influenced Commercial Vernacular form building occupies a comer parcel that was created by the intersection of the north-south-running Hughitt Ave. and the east-west-running Belknap St. and this gives it two principal elevations, the main one of which faces south onto Belknap St., while the other faces west onto Hughitt Ave. The building is clad in brown brick and a survey photo taken in 1983 shows that these walls were originally sheltered by a wide, overhanging cornice. The building's less wide main facade faces south onto Belknap St. and this facade's first story originally consisted of a full-width store front, although the one that was in place in 1983 was probably not the original even then. Since 1983, however, this building has lost its original overhanging eaves and its storefront has since been modernized once again and no longer has any historic features . -"USH 2 (Belknap St.)" WisDOT ID #8680-00-01 (71), Prepared by Timothy F.
