Additional Information: | CONCRETE LINTELS, WATER TABLE & ROOF COPINGALTERED FRONT WINDOWSSEGMENTAL ARCH SIDE WINDOWS [Date Cnst:(ASSESSOR'S RECORD)] 2021: This two-story, commercial vernacular building, historically known as Lake Superior Electrical Co., was constructed ca. 1916. It is of brick masonry construction with a rectangular plan on a stone foundation. The roof is flat with a small parapet topped with concrete and accented by a simple patterned brickwork cornice. The front (north) facade features four brick pilasters, simple patterned brickwork, and concrete accents. The original, large facade windows have been infilled with brick and downsized with small, vinyl, single-paned, fixed windows. Several side (west) elevation windows have been infilled, but most second-story, arched, one-over-one, double-hung sash remain. Basement windows are glass block. The front entryway features a modern glass door with a transom and sidelights and two metal detectors. White vinyl letters reading, “Benson Electric” span the facade. |
