NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. The Elk Creek Bridge was constructed in 1933, replacing an earlier steel span erected in 1900. It is the third bridge, overall, at this location, the first being a frame bridge erected in 1877. The present bridge was erected by the CCC and constructed by the Worden-Allen Company Contractors, one of the largest twentieth-century bridge companies in the Midwest. The company built bridges in Wisconsin as late as 1933, with this bridge being one of their last. Total length is 145.0 feet; largest span is 140.1 feet. 2011- The STH 93 Bridge (B-61-956) is a 143'-4" long single-span, two-lane, Parker Through Truss. Erected in 1933, it carries Washington Street (STH 93) automobile traffic over the Elk Creek. The bridge is set on concrete abutments and displays metal truss members. Alterations appear to be primarily limited to the decking. The STH 93 Bridge is the third bridge erected at this location. The first bridge was built of frame and was in place in 1877. Twenty-three years later, in 1900, it was replaced with a steel span. The present bridge was designed by the Worden-Allen Company Contractors in 1933, and constructed by the CCC. The Worden-Allen Company Contractors were one of the largest twentieth-century bridge companies in the Midwest. The company built bridges in Wisconsin as late as 1933, with this bridge being one of their last. This bridge is one of 14 Parker Overhead Truss bridges in the state that was found not eligible (in 1996) by WisDOT because the vertical clearance has been altered. The Wisconsin State Historic Preservation Office officially concurred that same year. In an effort to formalize these determinations, however, a Short Form Bridge DOE was prepared with this reporting. Overhead truss bridge 2025: Nonextant by 2015 per Streetview.
