NOTES
Additional Information:2015- "This three-story commercial building was constructed by F.J. Wood in 1905 (1). It is clad in a combination of red brick and cut stone and has a flat roof with a parapet and stone coping. The building displays elements characteristic of the Neo-Classical style, such as brick pilasters topped with metal Corinthian capitols, a metal frieze with decorative garland details, a simple cornice, and a pediment that features decorative garland along with the date “1905” centered in a circular detail.

The first-story front (northeast) facade is clad in cut stone and features a recessed entry with modern replacement entrance door and paired, replacement, one-over-one, double-hung sash windows. Based on a review of historic photographs it appears that cut stone on the first story of the front (northeast) facade was not original to the building (2). It is unclear when and/or why it was added. The second story facade features four replacement, one-over-one, double-hung sash windows with stone sills and metal hoods. The fixed-glass transoms have been covered. The third story features four replacement, one-over-one, double-hung sash windows with rounded arch transoms.

Historically, the building housed the post office on the first two stories from 1905 to 1933 and the Elks Club on the third. The post office vacated the premises in 1933 after moving to its current location at 320 E. Grand Ave, and the Elks now occupy a building on Jackson Street (3)."
