Additional Information: | A 'site file' titled "Plum Island Life-Saving and Light Stations" exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. Originally, the lantern room was painted black, with the rest of the tower painted white. This paint scheme provided the tower with a measure of visual contrast, enhancing its use as a daymarker. It is now red and white. |
