NOTES
Additional Information:Five story rectangular brick structure with first level in lighter color. Upper four levels with double windows paired and separated by brickwork. Good example of large cream brick tannery with original form and appearance. This was the Star Tannery of Albert Trostel and Sons. They were established in 1857 and moved to this location in 1861. They were and are one of Milwaukee's largest tanneries having a capacity of 1400 hides per day in 1896 and distributing throughout the country. This structure is representative of late 19th century multistory industrial buildings. See 1648 N. Jackson Street.
