BOORMAN CAME TO MAUSTON IN 1864. HE BECAME ONE OF THE CITY'S WEALTHIEST PEOPLE. HE WAS A BANKER, PRESIDENT OF MAUSTON PLOW AND IRON WORKS, AND WAS A PARTNER IN ANDERSON AND BOORMAN, DEALERS IN RAILROAD TIES AND WOOD.

Previously surveyed in 1975.

The Benjamin Boorman House is a 2-story ltalianate house that was constructed in 1877. The house is irregular in plan
with a masonry foundation, brick walls, and an asphalt-shingle and metal hipped roof. The front elevation faces east
toward N. Union St. and is asymmetrical in plan with a 2-story front-gabled projecting bay just south of a 1-story shedroofed
entry porch. Windows are 1-over-1 double-hung and 2-over-2 double-hung and are tall and narrow as is
characteristic of the ltalianate style. In addition, windows in the main building mass have segmental-arch hoods. A 1-
story bay window projection is located on the south elevation. A rectangular monitor with three regularly-spaced windows
on the east and west sides projects from the center of the roof.
