Additional Information: | The history of this building is not fully understood. The original portion was built in 1951 by Vogel Bros., general contractors, to a design by Madison architect Grover Lippert. The owner was M. C. Reppen and the original tenant was the IGA Food Store. In 1956, the building was expanded to its present size and it housed the Sentry Food Market for many years. In 1985, the UW acquired this building and it was subsequently completely remodeled, the window openings were reduced and new windows installed, and the exterior was stuccoed. Since then the building has housed the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey, which is part of the UW-Extension. |
