NOTES
Additional Information:This property currently consists of one large, linear, former motel unit; a former supper club building; as well as a small storage facility. Regarding the motel, the concrete block-constructed building is faced with brick and Tennessee stone and is largely topped with a side-gabled roof. Oriented on a north/south axis, the original 1954 block of the motel is the north end of the building , while the remaining three-fourths of the structure was likely completed by, or prior to, circa 1960. Windows in the original section are standard, double-hung examples arranged singly and in pairs, while the remaining windows are two-light slider examples. The open, gabled canopy at the north end of the building, which was added when the addition was made to the south, would have originally provided shelter for guests checking in. The former supper club structure, which likely dates to the 1960s, is located to the rear (east) of the motel unit and is sheathed with a stone veneer and board and batten sheathing. Topped with a hipped roof, a large fieldstone chimney dominates the primary (west) elevation, while a double-door entry is located at the building#25;s south end. Window openings are rectangular and some have been infilled with glass block. A small, board-and-batten storage shed with a wooden shingled roof is located adjacent to the supper club structure and just north of the motel unit.

Operated by Victor Brehm and Allen and Mildred DeWitt, construction of the original portion of Witt#25;s End Motel began in October of 1953 and was completed in May 1954 with just eleven units. Cited as Sheboygan#25;s first motel, it was described as a place of #28;luxury, comfort and convenience.#29; In addition to sleeping rooms, the basement included a lounge and recreation room for guests. Although no definitive construction information was found regarding the expansion of the motel, it is likely that it was completed within just a few years of the original block, which was designed by the firm of Satre & Senescall. By no later than 1970-71, the motel was under the ownership of Donald Jacobchick and between 1976 and 1977 it was renamed as the Embers Motor Lodge and Supper Club. Upon his retirement in 1981, the six-acre property was sold to his brother Roger Jacobchick and his wife Mary. At the time of that transfer, the motel offered forty units, an outdoor swimming pool and a supper club with seating for forty-five persons, as well as banquet facilities. In more recent years, the former motel was converted for permanent residential use and is currently known as Embers Efficiency Apartments.
