Additional Information: | 2009- "The large, ca. 1900, American Foursquare is situated on the southeast corner of South Piety and Cope streets among a variety of mature trees. The house sits on a rock-faced concrete block foundation, is sheathed in clapboards, and its hipped roof is covered with asphalt shingles. The two-story house's box-like massing and broad proportions are characteristic of a Foursquare structure. The wide, overhanging eaves, lowpitched roof, and general emfhasis on the horizontal, are also stylistic features that suggest a Prairie influence, common to this house style. Piercing each roof slope is a half-hipped dormer with a ribbon of windows. An entrance, protected by a small half-hipped hood with oversized knee brackets, is located in the north elevation. A small, single-story, half-hipped addition can be found on the rear elevation. The facade's porch is enclosed, single-storied, sits on a smooth concrete block foundation, and is covered with a half-hipped roof. A number of the original windows are multi-paned, and many are double-hung sash windows. Some of the windows exhibit pronounced casing and muntins." -"Piety St: Park St to Panther Dr", WisDOT#7890-01-02, Prepared by CCRG Inc. (Cheryl A. Chidester), 2009. |
