Additional Information: | Both c. 1965 buildings are similarly-constructed and are connected by a brick wall that extends into the landscape and serves as a porch. Built of reinforced concrete, the two buildings are faced with brown-hued brick (at the base level), concrete and stone stucco elsewhere. At the front of the complex, both buildings appear to be one-story in height; however, at the rear of the complex, the two buildings are clearly two-stories in height. Both buildings have flat roofs sealed with metal. The State Central Credit Union complex features design elements indicative of 1960s commercial architecture, including exposed rafters, elevated window placement, window walls, concrete detailing, walls extending into the landscape, and multiple building materials, including brick, stone, and concrete. The building retains a high level of exterior integrity and is an example of 1960s modern-era commercial architecture in West Allis. |
