Additional Information:ORIGINAL PART OF THE BUILDING (MIDDLE)WAS BUILT BY THE DUPONT CO. TO HOUSE A CLUB HOUSE FOR THEIR BARKSDALE PLANT SUPERVISORS. THE CLUB HOUSE WAS BUILT IN AND WAS CALLED THE HASKELL CLUB HOUSE. IN 1922 THE BUILDING WAS PURCHASED BY DR. ALBERT AXLEY FOR USE AS A HOSPITAL AND BY 1940 IT WAS KNOWN AS THE WASHBURN HOSPITAL. THE HOSPITAL WAS EXPANDED IN 1955 (THE NE END) AND COMPLETED IN 1956, AND EXPANDED AGAIN IN 1959 (THE SW END) AND BOTH ADDITIONS WERE DESIGNED BY THOMAS J. SHEFCHIK, A DULUTH, MN ARCHITECT.

THE WHOLE IS NOW CLAD IN VINYL SIDING.
