Additional Information: | The following is from the 2009 Intensive Survey of Menasha: Resting on a new concrete foundation, the main block of this Period Georgian Revival-style house rises two-and-one-half stories and is sheathed with red brick, while the two-story wing to the north is covered with siding. The symmetrically arranged, red-brick wing features a central entrance with a transom above, all of which is sheltered by a porch comprised of an open pediment supported by four, wooden columns. Six-over-six-light sash windows with shutters are located to either side of the entry, while a run of five windows (the center of which is smaller), occupies the second floor. Two round-arched roof dormers, each with a multiple-light sash, stand to either side of a flat-roofed, shingle-sheathed dormer that carries a pair of six-over-six-light windows. Windows throughout the remainder of the house are also multiple-light sash examples that are regularly arranged. The first floor of the wing to the north is fronted by a screen-enclosed porch, while the upper level features two gabled wall dormers#19;one with a six-over-six-light sash, the other a door that opens onto the second-floor porch. This house was moved in June of 1986 to this lot by house mover Don DeVooght, after it spent over ten months on the shore of Lake Winnebago, at the east end of Nicolet Boulevard. The house was originally located in Oshkosh and, as a result of the Mercy Hospital expansion, it was moved across the lake by barge. Prior to its move, it was owned by Don DeVooght's mother and after it was set upon its foundation in Menasha, Don's daughter resided there. No further information could be obtained. |
