Additional Information: | This double crib style structure likely served a dual purpose for the storage of corn as well as farm equipment. The exterior has six openings in the roof to allow for the input of corn surplus and six corresponding openings in the lower interior walls for the egress of teh corn; the interior traverse "runway" likely was used for the storage of farm equipment. A small opening also is present for the admittance to the upper loft area. Historically located on the property of Hugh Long, according to a 1857 plat. There are no extant buildings that appear to be associate with the corn crib. |
