More information can be found in the site file titled "Wisconsin Maritime Museum". The Louise was used by the Milwaukee-Downer College as an intermural women's crew boat. It was one of two boats the college used; the other was named the "Emily". Funded by Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Uihlein of Miwaukee, the two boats were named after their mothers. The "Louise" was used as a practice boat by Milwaukee-Downer College until 1964 when the school was acquired by Lawrence University of Appleton. The boat was presented to the Wisconsin Maritime Museum in 1987.
