Additional Information: | Built circa 1905, this was the home of Elmer A. Peterson. Peterson was born in 1869 in Rockford, Illinois. After living in both Illinois and Iowa, he moved in 1901 to the village of Walworth, where he became the local manager/agent for the Milwaukee Elevator Company. Following a destructive fire, he superintended the reconstruction of the elevators in 1910. Peterson married in 1905 to Marie Hitchcock and they resided in the subject home following their marriage and at least through 1910. Peterson served as village president for two terms and, thereafter, a member of the village board of trustees. In 1912, he was cited as the vice president of the Walworth State Bank and was one of the original charter members of the Walworth Masonic Lodge. |
