NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' titled "Arthur M. Karow Hatchery and Egg Farm" exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. THIS SHED IS A CONTRIBUTING RESOURCE ON THE KAROW POULTRY FARM AND HATCHERY. IT WAS USED AS A SMALL SALES OFFICE THAT WAS "PORTABLE." IT HAS NO FOUNDATION SO IT COULD BE MOVED TO WHATEVER LOCATION WAS MOST DESIRABLE FOR SALES. IT WAS PERMANENTLY MOVED TO THIS SITE AFTER THE FARM WAS CLOSED IN 1975.

2008- "The Arthur M. Karow Hatchery and Egg Farm is a farmstead developed in the mid twentieth century as a chicken hatchery and egg farm. The outbuildings are all related to the production of chickens and eggs except for the large concrete-block garage, a building that is related to a side business of Arthur Karow. The house was the home of Arthur and Lulu Karow. The contributing buildings are desclibed below.

[The farmstead consists of the house [140399], hatchery building [150761], laying house [150764], granary [150763], poultry barn [150762], corn crib [150765], sales shed [150766], and the Karow Brothers Garage [150767]].

Sales Shed, c.1940 [150766]
The small shed was built around 1940 and was used to sell eggs to the public. It has no foundation and was "portable," moved to locations near the highway. It was permanently moved to this location sometime after 1975, when the egg farm closed. The small building has a gable roof covered with asphalt shingles and the walls are clad with wide clapboards and punctuated with small openings filled with four-light windows. A modern entry door sits in the south elevation."
