Additional Information: | THIS PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE WAS BUILT IN WAUNAKEE PARK BETWEEN 1933 AND 1935 AND IT SPANS SIX MILE CREEK. IT IS ONE OF THREE IDENTICAL BRIDGES IN THE PARK, EACH OF WHICH HAS ITS OWN AHI NUMBER, AND THEY AND THE REST OF THE PARK WERE BUILT AS A CWA PROJECT. THE BRIDGE HAS A CONCRETE ARCH AND ITS BALUSTRADES ARE MADE OUT OF ROUGHLY COURSED AND DRESSED FIELDSTONES THAT ARE TOPPED WITH CONCRETE HAND RAILS. 2008- "This is the northernmost of the three small, identical bridges that allow pedestrians to stroll across Six-Mile Creek within Waunakee Park. This is a single-span, reinforced concrete arched bridge that has stone-faced railings and abutments and which uses artificial stone as copings for the railings. All three of these bridges were built between 1933 and 1935 as part of the larger project that transformed this area into Waunakee Park and the work was done using Civics Works Administration (CWA) labor." -"Waunakee 7.5 Quad", WisDOT#5290-01-02, Prepared by Timothy F. Heggland, (2008). 2021 - Appearance unchanged |
