Additional Information: | THIS RETAINING WALL WAS BUILT BETWEEN 1933 AND 1935 ALONG SIX MILE CREEK IN WAUNAKEE PARK, WHICH WAS BUILT AS A CWA PROJECT. THE BATTERED WALL IS BUILT IF MORTARED FIELDSTONES AND IT IS CAPPED BY A CONCRETE CAP. 2008- "This long, low, stone retaining wall extends along the west edge of the northernmost section of Six-Mile Creek that is located within Waunakee Park and this wall is also positioned just below the Waunakee Water Works Building described above. This wall has a battered profile and it is topped with dressed stone or concrete coping. Fieldstones that are mortared to one another cover the battered east-facing face of this wall and both ends and these probably cover a poured concrete core. This wall was built between 1933 and 1935 as part of the larger project that transformed this area into Waunakee Park and the work was done using Civics Works Administration (CWA) labor." -"Waunakee 7.5 Quad", WisDOT#5290-01-02, Prepared by Timothy F. Heggland, (2008). 2021 - Appearance unchanged |
