Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. This is a two-story house with a second-story addition on the east elevation and a one-story addition on the south elevation. Informants report the building is of timber-frame construction and has a clay-straw nogging between the timbers (fachwerk). The half-timber construction is covered with clapboards and horizontal boards. The building sits on a low, rubble stone foundation. A cornice runs across the original portion of the facade, dividing the first and second floors. The cornice is flared and underneath are exposed beams in the craftsman manner. There is also a plain, narrow frieze running under the eaves and plain corner boards. There is a central chimney and a south end chimney. The nogging was removed and replaced with insulation during remodeling. Two other buildings sit on the property, a small shed and a garage. These were built sometime during the early twentieth century. 2011: The house, which had been previously covered with clapboard, has been re-sided with vinyl and is now has a long breezeway-type wing that attaches to a garage. All windows are new. |
