Additional Information: | This guest house has an irregular L-shaped plan with a two-story section and a one-story section. It has a stone foundation, vertical log construction and log roof brackets. The building has an intersecting gable roof covered with tar paper and batten and a central interior stone chimney. Multiple dormers adorn the building. The main floors's principal space is a 24-foot by 34-foot "old English style great room" with a vaulted ceiling and open timber frame log truss roof supports. There is a fireplace on the north elevation. The basement kitchen was designed by architect Edwin Lundie, who also designed all of the cabinets and details including elaborate carvings, Swedish style painting scheme, and the decorative hardware. The wood cabinets were reportedly constructed by a local craftsman, Mr. Anderson. A Historic Structure Report of this building can be found in Room 312 at the Wisconsin Historical Society. #1016 #1017 #23508 #147307 #147321 # 147323 #147341 #147342 #147343 #147344 #147345 #147421 #147422 #147423 #147424 |
