Additional Information: | Another map code for this building is WT 20/9, found on the DOT West Bend map. This two story Greek Revival styled house features an irregular shaped plan configuration, a fieldstone foundation, a brick exterior, a brick trim and an asphalt shingled multi-gable roof. Brick dentil trim, brick modillions and massive brick eave returns distinguish the cornice line. The one-over-one windows throughout the house are set within segmental arched openings and detailed with similarly designed segmental arched brick lintels as well as projecting sills. The porch was enclosed in 1964. (See Bib. Ref. A). This 1854 residence (see Bib. Ref. A) is in fair condition. Architectural/Engineering Singificance: This property meets criteria C of the National Register requirements because the property retains enough of the character that it had when the town of Barton was growing and developing. This building contributes to the whole character of the Barton Historic District. |
