It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. Another map code for this reisdence is 27/17, found on the City Map. This two story house, designed in the Greek Revival style, features an L-shaped plan configuration, a stucco foundation, a brick exterior, a brick trim and an asphalt shingled multi-gabled roof. The remarkable dentil trimmed cornice is visible not only from the two story front gabled portion of the structure, but also from the one story side gabled wing. These dentils are articulated in brick, as are the decorative cornice returns, which are visible in the open gable end. Segmentally arched openings with projecting brick hoods distinguish the windows and doors throughout the dwelling. A small front porch is shed roofed, with turned column supports. Another side entrance is sheltered by a gabled door hood, held in place by brackets and detailed with exposed rafter ends. The residence is in fair condition. The building was under construction from 1846 to 1848. (See Inventory Card). The windows must be of a later date if these dates of construction are correct. |
