Swimming pool has been filled in, the building retains a high degree of integrity and conveys its historic function as a public bathhouse.Turtle Park was designated as a City of Beloit Landmark in 1998 for its role as a gathering place for Beloit's African-American community. The nomination was based on oral history asserting that the pool had traditionally been used by, and was a gathering place for Beloit's African-American community in the mid-twentieth century. This association was unsubstantiated during research efforts. |
