It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. THIS SMALL ASTYLISTIC UTILITARIAN FORM BUILDING WAS BUILT IN 1929 FOR TAYLOR COUNTY AND SERVED ITS HIGHWAY DEPT. AS ITS PRINCIPAL MEDFORD-BASED GARAGE BUILDING UNTIL THE NEW ONE WAS BUILT JUST TO THE SOUTH IN 1939. THE 1929 PORTION OF THIS BUILDING HAS BRICK -CLAD WALLS,A POURED CONCRETE PAD FOUNDATION, AND A BOWED ROOF. A LATER FLAT-ROOFED CONCRETE BLOCK ADDITION WAS BUILT ACROSS ITS NORTH-FACING SIDE ELEVATION IN THE 1960S AND ALL OF THE ORIGINAL WINDOWS IN THE 1929 BUILDING HAVE ALSO NOW BEEN REPLACED WITH MODERN ONES HAVING SNAP-IN MUNTINS. IT IS PLANNED TO DEMOLISH THIS BUILDING AS PART OF WISDOT PROJECT NO. 1610-06-01. |
