Builder was Chet Turner. ELABORATE SPINDLEWORK PORCH AND UPPER BALCONY WOOD SHINGLES IN GABLES PEDIMENTED AND BRACKETED PORCH ROOF SLIGHTLY PROJECTING TURRET ROOF ON BALCONY. A former owner attributed this house to Robert Messmer, but it is unmistakably a George F. Barber mail-order design. It is a slightly modified Design No. 37. It is very similar to the houses illustrated on p. 21 of the American Life Foundation reprint of Barber's Cottage Souvenir #2.

Area farmer Fred Bloor’s house burned down in 1896 and he purchased a lot at the current site from Seneca Campbell. Bloor chose a plan for a Colonial Revival-influenced Queen Anne house published in George Barber’s American Homes journal and he hired Chet Turner to build it along with the carriage house. Bloor, his wife and two children occupied the home in 1898. Bloor would live there until his death in 1963. The home was sold to David and Evelyn Ritger who remained there until 1998.
