Additional Information:Construction date is circa to the garage permit date of 1932.

2015- "This two-story, front-gabled commercial building features a stepped parapet along its primary south elevation; the primary entrance to the building is located within the canted corner. Brown-tone face brick sheathes the street-facing elevations, while the remainder consists of common brick. Corners of the primary elevation are set off with angled interlocking brickwork. The altered first-floor storefront, which consists of modern fenestration above a stone veneer lower section, is topped by a cloth awning. The second level features two tripartite window groupings of round-arched windows with a stone keystone. Angled brickwork and a stone inset is located near the top of the parapet. Windows throughout the remainder of the building are arranged singly and in pairs; examples along S. 71st Street retain their original and rectilinear leaded paning, while examples to the west appear to be replacements.

This commercial building, which consisted of a tavern on the lower level and a flat above, was completed in 1933 for Helen Harbutin, the wife of Peter Harbutin. It was designed by A.E. Diamico of Nonn Better Home Builders and erected at an approximate cost of $7,000. By 1936, however, the tavern was operated by Michael and Helen Nicolich, who continued to do so through at least 1940, as well as resided on the second floor. By no later than 1938, when signage is identified as having been erected, the bar was affiliated with the Gettleman Brewery. By 1942, it was identified as the Weitzer & Haas tavern, with Anton Weitzer and his wife living upstairs. Ownership of the bar changed once again by 1945, when it was run by Frank M. Greiler, who continued to do so through 1972, when the storefront is noted as having been remodeled. The Gettleman Brewery association continued through at least 1967."
