Additional Information: | One of the four lime kilns built by Gardner on the shore of Green Bay near the Little Sturgeon area. Deteriorating supporting stone work has been partially restored and stairs from the bluff top down to the kiln have been made through the efforts of Thomas Wulf, a principal in Lime Kiln Development LLC. The site will become part of the common ground of the development and may not be open to the public when the development is complete. Marvin Lotz's and Hjalmar Holand's histories of Door Co. discuss the lime kilns. The kiln appears to be 15'-20' tall with a 10'-12' diameter. |
