Additional Information: | The two-story, wood-frame building has a gable roof over the sanctuary, which is clad in vinyl clapboards. A four-story stepped steeple is located on the west end of the sanctuary. The steeple is topped by a pyramidal roof that is more shallow than roofs typically seen on church steeples. The steeple roof has been modified. The current roof replaced a taller, more steeply pitched version that was destroyed by lightening in the late 1940's. A metal cross is mounted on the peak of the steeple roof. The original round-arched stain-glass windows are intact and storm windows are attached on the exterior. The church's west wall, which held the historic entrance to the building, has a two-story, hipped-roof narthex, added in 1960. The grade of the land in front of the entrance was lowered to accomodate the narthex. The cemetery is located to the north. |
