Additional Information: | MOVED FROM ORIGINAL SITE IN THE 1920s; BUILT BY BAYFIELD CIVIC LEAGUE [Date Cnst:(A)] The Waiting Pavilion (Rittenhouse Ave. at Front St.) was built in 1913 to shelter passengers awaiting excursion boats for the Apostle Islands. A Bayfield women's group, the Civic League, hired a local carpenter, William Bell, to construct the late Queen Anne gazebo with a pyramidal roof, scrolled brackets, and geometric railing. The structure was moved here from a site across the street around 1920. |
