Additional Information: | A two-span, through-plate, girder bridge that rests on poured-concrete abutments, this structure carries the subject rail line over STH 32. The bridge's sidewalls are constructed of plates and angles, while the load is carried by rolled "I" beams. The mid-length piers are also constructed of poured-concrete. The structure's design and construction material makes it consistent with other such bridges built in the 1930s. It is thought that the bridge was built in order to promote highway safety and facilitate grade separation, an activity that started to occur during the WPA and PWA programs of the 1930s. |
