NOTES
Additional Information:October 2005-House and barn probably built for Schwefel family around 1890 on land owned by the family since the mid-nineteenth century. (Plat Maps) They are part of an old farmstead that sits on a rise with a fairly long set-back from the highway. The house, barn, and sheds of the old farmstead are surrounded by large lawn spaces with many mature trees and shrubs. Only the house and barn were of historical or architectural interest and were included in the survey.

The barn sits behind and slightly to the east of the house. A c.1920s era silo is attached at the northwest corner and there are a few extant sheds in the vicinity of the building. The barn is a late nineteenth-early twentieth century basement barn that has been banked on the west elevation. The barn has a steep-sloping gambrel roof and a fieldstone foundation. The walls of the barn are covered with vertical boards in a board-and-batten pattern. Large sliding doors are on the west elevation at the top of the bank. There are a number of irregular multi-pane windows punctuating both the foundation of the barn and the upper level.
