Additional Information: | 1998- The Onalaska AFRC consists of two buildings: a training and administration building and a vehicle maintenance building. The area immediately surrounding the buildings is mostly covered by asphalt, with some landscaped areas. The facility is located in an urban residential area. The buildings are owned by the Wisconsin National Guard and leased to the Army Reserve. The buildings are in good condition, but neither of them to exhibit significant architectural character or merit. The maintenance building (Organizational Maintenance Shop or OMS in Army Reserve terminology)functions as a vehicle maintenance facility for the Onalaska AFRC. Constructed circa 1958, it is an irregular-shaped structure that consists of a one-story administrative section and a 1½-story vehicle maintenance section. The building rests on a poured concrete foundation and has concrete block walls. Six metal overhead-retractable bay doors on the west walls of the vehicle maintenance section. Additional entrances include a single metal pedestrian door on the north and south walls of the administrative section and the north wall of the vehicle maintenance section. Two single metal pedestrian doors are located on the south wall of the building. The east wall has three sets of tripartite windows. Flat roofs cover the structure. The building is shared with the Wisconsin National Guard. The north half of the building is occupied by the Army Reserve. |
