| Additional Information: | April 2002-Located on the east side of STH 49/Main Street, the one and one half story building is a modest example of the Queen Anne style. Dating to ca. 1890, the house has a steeply pitched cross-gable roof clad with asphalt shingles. A later one story enclosed porch addition is located at the southwest corner of the house. Additional alterations to the original building include the construction of an entry porch with a half hipped roof near the northeast corner of the house and a one story rear gable win extending from the building#25;s east façade. Most of the exterior walls of the house are clad with a coursed shingles over a stone foundation. Fenestration on the house includes a single door on the front, west façade of the enclosed porch and a second paneled door located on the north façade of the rear enclosed entry porch. Windows are typically double hung with one over one sashes. Additional window forms include a Palladian window comprised of short fixed light windows flanking a double hung window with a rounded top rail in the gable front element facing the street. Directly below the Palladian window is a string of four double hung windows placed below a shed roof overhang. The overhang is supported on each end by a carved wood corbel. Ornamental elements included brackets along he cornice board of the enclosed front porch, cornice returns on each of the gable roof forms and a simple triangular vergeboard in each gable peak. |
