Additional Information: | October 2001-This two-story, frame Side Gable farmhouse appears to date from c. 1870 and may have been built for Elisha Shead. It is finished with clapboards and rests on a stone foundation. The north-facing (front) façade displays an off-center door flanked by 4/4, double-hung sash windows. At the second story, small two-pane windows are found. Although the front-facing façade appears intact, the side-facing facades exhibit door openings that have been reduced to accommodate windows, and window openings that have been reduced and fitted with modern windows. Statement of Significance: In 1876, this property was part of the Elisha Shead farm. It belonged to him until at least 1906. From about 1015 until at least 1925, C. R. Shead was the owner. Frank Shead owned it in 1956. In 1985, the property belonged to Vernon Elendt. |
