Additional Information: | The building was demolished between the survey in 1998 and 2000, when an Auto Zone was constructed in its place. 1998- Green Bay USARC consists of one building located on 1.98 acres of land in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The area immediately surrounding the buildings is covered by asphalt or concrete. The land has been significantly altered by construction activities and grading for parking areas. The facility is located in a commercial area. The building is in good condition and does not appear to have been modified since its original construction. It does not appear to exhibit historical or architectural character or merit. The building functions as an administrative and drill facility for Green Bay USARC. Constructed in 1959, it is a two-story rectangular building bounded to the northeast and southwest by a one-story wing. The building rests on a poured reinforced concrete foundation and has concrete block walls with a brick veneer. A metal overhead-retractable bay door is located on the southeast wall. Additional entrances include metal pedestrian doors located around the perimeter of the building. Fenestration includes several multi-light fixed windows located around the perimeter of the building. Several windows have been filled in with brick. A gable roof covers the two-story section and flat roofs cover the one-story sections. A records search at the Wisconsin State Historic Preservation Office revealed no recorded archaeological sites within a one-mile radius of the facility. Green Bay USARC property has been heavily disturbed by construction activities, with much of the property paved or graded. An on-site assessment determined that there is a low probability of extant archaeological remains on the property. Green Bay Intensive Survey Phases 2, 3 & 4 |
