Additional Information: | Type 5. The nine Type 5 homes consist of a side-gabled main block that features a double front-gable wing along the primary facade. As originally designed, each half of the duplex carried two single windows along both the first and second levels of its entrance elevation. A side-gabled porch extends from each end of the primary facade. Each side wall originally included a paired window on the first floor, while two single sashes occupied the upper level. Although none of the Type 5 homes exhibit their original fenestration or sheathing (all are covered with either vinyl or aluminum), the single duplex that appears to best reflect its original design characteristics is found at 3310-3312 Republic Avenue. Although sheathed with both aluminum and asphalt siding, this exmaple retains its original fenestration arrangement and what appears to be its original porch posts on both the front and rear porches. |
