Additional Information: | 1999: Charles Sette purchased about 160 acres of land from Joel Hall (possibly an out of town speculator) in the late 1860s. Originally, Sette erected a log house on the property, an outline of the foundation of this house can still be seen just southwest of the rear ell of the house. In 1887, Sette erected this brick farmhouse, and an ell was added to the house in the early twentieth century. The granary probably dates from the early years of the farmstead, as did an original barn where the dairy barn now sits. Sometime around the turn of the twentieth century, the fieldstone barn was added to the original barn and in 1936, the original barn burned. The dairy barn was erected right afer the old barn burned. The modern silos were added later. (Plat. maps, Information from Lillian Sette, current owner) The Sette family continued to own and farm this property throughout the twentieth centruy. During the late twentieth century it was the farm of Lillian and Edwin Sette. Edwin Sette recently passed away, but Lillian Sette still owns the land, but does not actively farm it. It is rented to other farmers in the area (Information from Lillian Sette). Wisconsin Dairy Barn |
