NOTES
Additional Information:The previous structure at 1001 S. 8th Street was demolished and this new structure was erected in 2001. It is located in the South 8th Street Historic District. 2023: This 2-story restaurant building was constructed in 2001. Although located within the boundary of the 8th Street Historic District, the building was constructed after the district was NRHP listed and, as such, is not a district resource. Designed to resemble a Greek Revival retail building, the property consists of a front-gabled mass that features simulated 4-pane shop windows across the first story and three regularly-spaced faux window openings at the second story. Slight eave returns, plain cornice boards, corner boards, and square pilasters between the shop windows suggest the Greek Revival intent. South of this building mass is a 1-story glass entry bay with a metal roof. A 1-story brick mass projects from the south end of the entry bay and features a decorative brick cornice and a rectangular brick panel with stone cornerstones to give it a “historic” appearance.
