Additional Information:POINTED ARCH WINDOWS AND BLIND ARCHES. 1ST CATHOLIC PRIEST IN CITY, FATHER SAILER, BURIED UNDER CHAPEL. STONE OVER DOOR W/"BEDENKE DER ARMEN SEELEN." STENCIL-DECORATED VAULTED CEILING. St. Mary’s Cemetery, associated with St. Mary’s Catholic Parish, the first in Port Washington, was established in the early 1860s on a plot northwest of the settlement at that time. In 1876, the cemetery was formally organized with a gate, fence, and central chapel. The small cemetery also features nineteenth-century mausoleums, a wrought iron fence, and a 1960s-era service building.
