Additional Information: | House was likely remodeled to its current appearance in the 1930s. Thehouse was divided for two-family use at some point in the 1940s. the house is covered with clapboard, brick and stucco and false half-timbering. July 2005-This two-story gabled residence is sheathed with clapboard along the first level and stucco and false half-timbering on the second. Both of the enclosed entrances are covered with brick and trimmed with stone; the east entry is shed-roofed, while the western entry features a catslide roof that extends to the west. The first level of the front-facing gable carries a pair of circa 1950s, horizontal pane openings, while an oriel-type window (also with horizontal pane windows) is located along the upper level. A front-gabled, clapboard-sheathed garage is located to the east of the house, while a gambrel roof garage with both wooden shingles and clapboard sheathing stands to the west. According to Sanborn maps, this house was built circa 1900 and was likely remodeled to its current appearance in the 1930s. The earliest known occupants were the Greibling family in 1907-1908. Brewer Europe Greibling, his wife Anna and their four children moved here from Washing Street between 1899 and 1907. Anna died in 1921, while Europe passed away the following year. The next known owner (in 1928) was James Stein, an employee at the Aluminum Good Manufacturing Company. During Stein#25;s tenure here, the home was divided for two-family use at some point in the 1940s. The home's current owner is Donald Pankrantz, who purchased the house no later than 1955. |
